The Philadelphia Mummers String Band Association is rooted in the spirit of community, tradition, and generosity. With Kelly’s Kidz, we spread joy by collecting toys for children in need. Members from all the string bands come together to lift the spirits of children in hospitals by playing music and delivering toys, reminding them that they’re not alone during difficult times.
The Ahmad Butler Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children battling cancer and enhancing their quality of life. We proudly join their mission by playing music at foundation events, helping to lift spirits and bring joy to these courageous children and their families. Whether large or small, we are committed to meeting the needs of these brave children and ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.
The fight against hunger is close to our hearts. We’ve partnered with Philabundance by donating food and raising monetary contributions, ensuring that families across the region have access to nutritious meals.
Cancer touches many lives, including our fellow Mummers. Through Mummers Against Cancer, we provide financial support to help our members battling cancer, easing their burden as they fight this difficult disease.
Palandro-Ferry Memorial Foundation
The Palandro-Ferry Memorial Foundation was established to honor the memory of Dennis Palandro, Jr. and Joseph Ferry, two beloved members of the South Philadelphia String Band, and Joseph’s fiancée, Kelly Wiseley, who were tragically killed in a car accident on January 2, 2019. In tribute to Denny, Joe, and Kelly, the foundation provides support to families, friends, and communities in times of need, reflecting the compassion and camaraderie that these three shared with everyone around them.
The McCloskey-Kubiak Foundation not only raises awareness for suicide prevention but also provides scholarships for young individuals. Every year, we participate in the annual kickball tournament, helping to raise funds for this vital cause.
Ronald McDonald House Charities
Supporting families with sick children is a cause we hold dear. We contribute food and monetary donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, helping to ensure families have a comforting place to stay while their children receive critical care.
Francis McIntyre Sr. Memorial Fund – Mummers For Veterans
Through the Francis McIntyre Sr. Memorial Fund, our organization honors veterans by collecting and donating food, clothing, and other essential items. We are proud to support those who have served our country by lending a helping hand whenever possible.
In addition to the collective charitable work of the Philadelphia Mummers String Band Association, each of our individual bands are deeply committed to giving back to their local communities. Many bands work closely with a variety of other nonprofits and causes that are meaningful to them, supporting important initiatives like local food banks, health organizations, youth programs, and more.
